The Department of Microelectronics for Semiconductor Engineering” was specially established in response to the strong demand on talents for technological innovation and product development in the industry of semiconductor and integrated circuits (ICs). This department currently only has undergraduate program, including the "Solid-State Electronics Group" and the "Nano Science and Technology Group". The study area of the "Solid-State Electronics Group" include: quantum physics, IC manufacturing, semiconductor devices, and IC chip design. Students take basic required courses from freshman to sophomore year. Starting from their junior year, they need to study professional courses in the fields of semiconductors and integrated circuits, and conducted relevant experimental operations to train their practical abilities. The study area of the “Nano Science and Technology Group” include: nanoelectronics, nanooptoelectronics, nanomaterials, and nanobiology. From freshman to sophomore year, students take basic compulsory courses. From junior year onwards, they take electives in two major areas of expertise in the four major fields of nanoelectronics, nanooptoelectronics, nanomaterials, and nanobiology to deepen their professional knowledge. The Department of Microelectronics for Semiconductor Engineering cultivates high-quality students with solid knowledge and strong practical ability, helping them to continue their advanced studies in famous institutes for master and/or doctoral degrees, so as to help them finally being the top-gun leaders in the industry of semiconductor and integrated circuits (ICs).
