Department/Institute Profile The Institute of Physics (IOP) of NYCU was founded in 1993 to support the development of fundamental sciences in this originally technology-oriented school. Despite its relative youth as an institute and its small size, IOP is energetic in education, research, and international collaborations. IOP is also devoted to intensive collaborations with the following institutions.
(1) RIKEN, Japan (2) Sophia University, Japan (3) Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russia (4) Russian Academy of Sciences, Russia (5) Belarusian State University, Belarus (6) National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ukraine (7) Max Planck Institute, Germany (8) Trinity College Dublin, The University of Dublin, Ireland (9) Swansea University, United Kingdom (10) The University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom (11) Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), United States (12) Michigan State University, United States (13) Argonne National Laboratory, United States (14) JUNO collaboration (Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory), International collaboration (15) Phenikaa University, Vietnam (16) Thai Nguyen University of Education, Vietnam (17) University of Education, Hue University, Vietnam
2. Program Curriculum The research of IOP covers four directions: condensed matter physics, medium & high energy and cosmology, atomic & molecular and optical physics, and biomedical physics. The laboratories and research branches include the following: (1)Organic semiconductor laboratory (2) Quantum matter physics laboratory (3)Cosmic rays laboratory (4) Lattice gauge theory group (5)Lattice gauge theory group (6)Biophysics and statistical physics group (7)Biophysics and statistical physics group (8)High energy physics group (9) Laser and Photonics Laboratory (10) Astronomy and Cosmology Group
